Meet Nicole
Nicole Onas, M.S., CCC-SLP
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist
I am a passionate speech-language pathologist specializing in natural language acquisition and have over 15 years of experience working with individuals from infancy into adulthood. I began my career as a speech-language pathology assistant and eventually earned my master’s degree in Communicative Disorders from Chapman University to become a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist in Nevada and California . I have my Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and am a three time recipient of the Award for Continuing Education (ACE), a formal recognition for demonstrating commitment to lifelong learning by earning 70 continuing education hours within a 3-year period.

My professional experience has ranged from private practice to the local school districts, so I am equipped to help individuals of all ages improve their speech sounds, language skills, social awareness and advocacy skills, feeding abilities, fluency, and cognitive skills. Over the years, I have developed a deep and continuously growing passion for AAC therapy and providing trauma informed and neurodiversity affirming care.
I view therapy as a partnership between a client, therapist, and family. I believe that including my clients and/or caregivers in the decisions regarding their sessions is vital to their progress and growth. I also believe that coaching and counseling are vital elements of therapy, and that these services require strong connections with a client’s support team. Therapy can be so successful if it is founded on a relationship of trust and tailored to each individual’s needs.
I am passionate about what I do and am always learning and adapting to the changes in my field. Along with taking professional courses and trainings, I have had the honor of supervising speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs), mentoring clinical fellows, and training teachers, parents, and school staff members in AAC, data collection, and methods for supporting children with communication challenges.

I am a wife to a very supportive husband and am also a fur baby mama. I am known to have a cup of coffee, tea, or boba in my hand at all times! I love to karaoke and spend time with my extended family and friends. On the weekends, you're likely to find my husband and I eating our way across the Las Vegas strip, antiquing or enjoying the local farmers markets, esc aping the hustle and bustle to enjoy some dispersed camping, or getting our steps in at Disneyland and California Adventure. I look forward to getting to know more about you and your family!

Getting started with PICSL Therapy is easy!
Step One
Contact us for a complimentary consultation which takes place via phone or video call. We will discuss your concerns and address any questions you may have to determine whether a communication evaluation would be beneficial. If we decide to move forward, an evaluation session will be scheduled at a date and time that works best for you.
A dynamic assessment is administered by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist. An assessment report will be written based on the results from standardized assessments and/or strengths based evaluations, background history, caregiver input and observations to develop a comprehensive picture of each client's strengths and challenges.
Step Two
If therapy is recommended, we will develop a plan of care and discuss our treatment goals with you and/or caregivers. Sessions may be conducted in-person or via telepractice depending on your individual needs and location. Data is collected every session to monitor progress as well as plan for the next session. Therapy is collaborative so caregivers are encouraged to participate!
Step Three
